The Democrats' View on National Defense

It would be easy to say that I have been overly harsh with the "Duck and Cover"-crats. All of the Democrat candidates wants what's best for America. Don't they? Don't they?
.
Maybe, maybe not.
.
An interesting viewpoint was expressed by a nationally-known radio talk show host whose initials are Rush Limbaugh. In response to a question from a 12-year-old girl, asking why Bill Clinton didn't do anything about terrorism while he was President, Rush made an interesting point:
.
Bill Clinton considered terrorist attacks a criminal issue, rather than a military issue.
.
Clinton refused to take Osama bin Laden from Sudan because bin Laden "had committed no crime against America....we had no basis to hold him." Cases against terrorist conspiracists resulted in grand jury testimony using FBI evidence -- which by law could not then be shared with the CIA or any other intelligence agencies, because grand jury testimony is legally bound to be kept secret. (This is "the Wall*" that Clinton's Deputy Attorney General Jamie Gorelick helped construct -- the same Jamie Gorelick who then served on the 9/11 Commission chartered to find out "what went wrong" with intelligence that led to the 9/11 attacks.)
.
The Democrat presidential candidates all espouse variations on Clinton's philosophy -- the courts, not the military, have jurisdiction over terrorists. The soldiers should be "brought home" as soon as possible. The war in Iraq is lost, not winnable, based on a lie, weakening our military and eroding our position in the world.
.
There's one big huge problem with viewing terrorism as a criminal matter rather than miliatry. Our criminal system is designed to react rather than to prevent. If the Democrats have their way, terrorist attacks in America will become common, something that Americans will just have to get used to.
.
The terrorists have already shown that they are prepared to die in order to kill innocent people. Can a thinking person honestly believe that our feeble court system, concerned with criminals' rights over those of their victims, can possibly dissuade our enemies from using violence to destroy the very fabric of our civilization and society?
.
If the Democrats have their way, stay at home. The terrorists are coming.

* The Wall. "The single greatest structural cause for September 11 was the wall that segregated criminal investigators and intelligence agents. Government erected this wall. Government buttressed this wall. And before September 11, government was blinded by this wall.

"In 1995, the Justice Department embraced flawed legal reasoning, imposing a series of restrictions on the FBI that went beyond what the law required. The 1995 Guidelines and the procedures developed around them imposed draconian barriers to communications between the law enforcement and intelligence communities. The wall "effectively excluded" prosecutors from intelligence investigations. The wall left intelligence agents afraid to talk with criminal prosecutors or agents. In 1995, the Justice Department designed a system destined to fail." -- Attorney General John Ashcroft, in testimony before the 9/11 Commission, April 13, 2004
